Green future
18/12/2009
As world leaders were gathering in Copenhagen in early December attempting to do a deal on climate change, one East Hampshire town has radical green plans of its own. At the December First Friday gathering in Petersfield, held as always at the Folly Upstairs, business people heard how Whitehill Bordon could become a beacon of eco-planning.
December's meeting heard from local leaders who are hoping to bring massive change to an area currently best known as run-down army town. East Hampshire District Council Leader David Parkinson said the £1.6 billion project "aspires to make Whitehill Bordon the greenest town in Europe”. First Friday is a monthly lunch seminar for businesses to network and share new ideas organised jointly by Navigate and Antrobus Accountants. Navigate is a green company accredited as carbon neutral.
